How we check codes
This page explains exactly what “checked” means on PriceyDicey, so you can judge for yourself how much weight to put on it. We would rather describe a modest process honestly than claim a thorough one we do not run.
Where the offers come from
Almost everything on this site arrives from the affiliate networks the stores use — currently Awin and Impact, with others to follow. Stores load their promotions into the network, including the code, the conditions and the end date, and we receive that feed. A smaller number come from readers who email us a code they have used.
We do not scrape other coupon sites. Codes copied from a competitor are, in our experience, how dead and fake codes spread.
What happens before an offer goes live
- Masked codes are dropped. If the feed gives a code as
****or similar, the offer is either converted to a no-code deal or discarded. We never publish a placeholder as if it were a real code. - Personal and influencer codes are dropped. Codes tied to a named creator are not ours to hand out and often break the creator’s own terms.
- Non-US offers are dropped. This site serves the United States. A code that only works on a store’s UK site is worse than no code at all.
- Conditions are read out of the offer copy — minimum spend, new customers only, selected ranges, exclusions — and shown on the offer card.
- The end date is recorded. Where the store gives no end date we say so rather than inventing one.
What happens after it goes live
| When | What happens |
|---|---|
| The day an offer’s end date passes | It disappears from every live list, count and search result on the site automatically. Nothing manual has to happen for this to work. |
| For 21 days after that | It appears on the store’s page in a “recently expired” block, struck through, with a red EXPIRED badge and the date it ended. The code button is replaced with “no longer works”. |
| After 21 days | It is unpublished and gone. |
| Whenever a reader reports a dead code | We check it and remove it, normally the same day. |
| Whenever an advertiser or network asks | We remove the offer, normally within a few hours. We do not ask why. |
What “Verified” and the date on an offer mean
An offer marked verified has been reviewed by a person on our team against the store’s own promotion — the code, the conditions and the end date — before it went on the site, and again whenever it is revisited. The date shown on each offer is the date that record was last reviewed or updated.
Codes are re-checked in the morning run, and anything found dead is pulled. Reader reports and advertiser notices are actioned as they arrive, ahead of the routine pass.
What we cannot promise
A store can withdraw a code at any moment, cap the number of uses, restrict it to certain products or cancel a promotion early, and it does not have to tell us. So a code here can still fail at checkout. If one does, please tell us — that report is the fastest way anything gets fixed, and it is genuinely useful to us.
Sending us a code
If you have a code that works and is not on the site, send the store name, the code and what it does. If it is a general public code and it works, we will add it and credit you if you want. We will not publish a code that appears to be personal to one account, an employee code, or one obtained by circumventing a store’s own rules.
