Cookie policy
This page explains what is stored on your device when you use PriceyDicey, and what happens when you click through to a store. It sits alongside our privacy policy.
What we set ourselves
Very little. PriceyDicey is a plain website with no advertising network, no behavioural tracking and no analytics product of our own.
| What | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| WordPress session and security cookies | Set only if someone signs in to administer the site. Ordinary readers never receive them. | Session, or up to 14 days for a signed-in administrator |
pd_cookie_ack (browser local storage, not a cookie) |
Remembers that you have seen the cookie notice so it stops appearing. | Until you clear your browser data |
| Your host’s caching and security cookies | Our hosting provider may set a cookie to serve pages quickly and to block abusive traffic. | Short-lived |
We do not sell or share any of this, because there is nothing in it to sell. We do not build a profile of you and we cannot identify you from it.
What happens when you click through to a store
This is the part that matters on a coupon site, and most sites do not explain it.
When you select an offer, you are passed to the store through an affiliate network — Awin or Impact, for example. At that moment the network and the store set their own cookies in your browser to record that the visit came from PriceyDicey. If you then buy something, that cookie is what tells the store to pay us a commission. It usually lasts between one and thirty days depending on the store.
Those cookies are set by the network and the store, not by us, and they are governed by those companies’ own privacy and cookie policies, which apply from the moment their page loads. We do not receive your name, your email address, your card details or the contents of your basket — only anonymous confirmation from the network that a sale happened and what commission is due.
Third parties on our pages
| Who | What for | Their policy |
|---|---|---|
| Google Fonts | Serves the two typefaces the site uses. Your browser requests the font files from Google’s servers, which means Google sees the request. | policies.google.com/privacy |
| Hostinger | Hosts the site and provides its content delivery network and the newsletter sign-up block. | hostinger.com/privacy-policy |
| Affiliate networks (Awin, Impact and others) | Tracking a click through to a store, as described above. Nothing is set until you choose to go to a store. | Published on each network’s own site |
Turning cookies off
Nothing on this site breaks if you block cookies — you can read every page and see every code. The only consequence is that a store may not know your visit came from us, so we would not be paid for it. That is our problem rather than yours, and the choice is entirely yours to make.
Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies from its settings, and blocking third-party cookies specifically will stop affiliate tracking while leaving the site working normally.
Changes
If we ever add analytics or advertising to this site, this page will be updated before it goes live and the cookie notice will be changed to ask for consent rather than simply informing you.
